Winston Brown, Elder

Winston Brown was born in Abilene and grew up on the campus of what was then Abilene Christian College, where his father taught history for 49 years.  With a B.S. from ACC and a M.A. from the University of Texas, Winston began his career and worked in several different cities.  He and his wife, Mary, met at church.  They moved to Dallas in 1975 and have been members at Skillman since 1981.  Mary and Winston have two children who also live in Dallas, David and Laura, and a handsome grandson, Julian.

Winston enjoys teaching adult Bible classes and the research involved in teaching.  Mary’s passion is teaching World Bible School students.  Winston’s hobbies include playing bridge and listening to classical music. They both love to travel.

Winston has been a deacon at Skillman since the mid-80?s and has served for several years on the Mission Committee.  Winston would like to see more involvement in missions both at home and abroad. He would also like to help members find their niche by recognizing and using their spiritual gifts.
